Taking a yacht out on open waters conjures up images of cerulean French Polynesian lagoons and idyllic days spent on the Caribbean Sea. But the U.S. is a yachting destination in its own right, and there are opportunities to find great yacht rentals here if you know where to look. While options don’t abound the way they might in the British Virgin Islands, luxe overnight yacht rentals and week-long charters are available along both the east and west coasts, from Lake Champlain to Chesapeake Bay, Newport Beach, and the Florida Keys. For those keen for a yachting adventure in the 50 states, look no further than these yacht rental institutions:

Dream Yacht Charters

Covering more than 60 sailing ports with 1,250 vessels, Dream Yacht Charter offers stunning yachts on the European Riviera, Mexico, The Bahamas, Canada, Australia, Belize, and the U.S., among many other destinations. In the U.S., find their yacht, monohull, and catamaran rentals in Newport, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Lake Champlain, and Annapolis. For those based in the northeast, Lake Champlain’s cruising grounds are in upper New York State, and the port is easily accessible from both New York and most New England states. You’ll charter a yacht to cruise the area “just south of the Canadian border, nestled between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the New York Adirondacks.” The port of Newport, Rhode Island services a similar area of the country, while Annapolis is an ideal hub for those based in parts of the northwest, Midwest, and southeast. In Newport, you can take a Dream Yacht Charter catamaran to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard, or you can start your yachting adventure in Annapolis and sail the Chesapeake Bay.

Fraser Yachts

Fraser Yachts is one of the gold-standard luxury yacht charter companies, servicing destinations both in the U.S. and abroad. Their U.S. yacht rentals can be found in New England, Florida, or Alaska. Among the 13 yachts they offer in North America are the 30-meter Jazz, which rents at a weekly rate of $58,000, the 40-meter Magic, which rents at a weekly rate of $110,000, and the pièce de résistance, Legend, a 77-meter yacht with a weekly rate of $540,960. Chartering in New England brings cruisers on an all-American excursion, while the Alaskan charters allow for once-in-a-lifetime wildlife sightings. Work with the dedicated team of Fraser Yachts charter brokers to curate an unforgettable week-long domestic yacht cruise for your family or close friends.

Vrbo

Vrbo isn’t just for renting vacation homes—you can also rent yachts directly from their owners. When working with a typical yacht charter company, you’ll find their ports are concentrated in specific regions of the country. Alternatively, with Vrbo, you can type in any destination in the U.S. and potentially find a yacht rental close by. You can find some excellent options along both coasts on Vrbo and on a few lakes in the Midwest and southeast. From a small selection of southern California yachts to an expansive selection of luxury yachts in the Miami area, you’ll find prices ranging from a few hundred a night to over-the-top yachts that rent for $5,000 a night. Search through Vrbo’s yacht rentals in your chosen U.S. vacation spot with the yacht filter.

Luxury Yacht Charters

For the west coast yacht enthusiast, Luxury Yacht Charters services the California area and the Pacific Northwest, bringing the wonders of the Pacific Ocean within reach of your next charter. Charter a boat in San Francisco to explore the stunning northern California coast, or visit Orange County’s best beaches when you charter in Newport Beach. With Luxury Yacht Charters’ Pacific Northwest slips, you can cruise up to the gorgeous San Juan Islands or along the rugged Oregonian coast. Luxury Yacht Charters also services the yachting capital, Florida, as well as Alaska and New England, which they call the “British Isles of North America.”

Boat Bookings

Boat Bookings offers yacht rentals across New England in coastal Maine, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Newport. Beyond the northeast destinations, Charter World services Floridian destinations—including the Florida Keys—and the Annapolis/Chesapeake Bay region. Work with Boat Bookings’ US broker to start planning an intimate yacht cruise vacation. To give you a sense of the vessels, in Miami, charterers can rent the 30-meter Cristobal, from $43,000 a week. In New England, the top-of-the-line Renaissance with five luxury cabins rents for $82,000 a week. Day charters are also available through Boat Bookings, as are luxe monohulls and catamarans.
