Hawaiian Airlines announced this week that it will begin service from Honolulu to Boston. The 5,100-mile flight will be the longest domestic flight in the United States.
The flight is scheduled to take 10 hours and 15 minutes on the way to Boston and 11 hours and 40 minutes when returning to Hawaii.
The airline estimates that 60,000 people come to Hawaii from Boston every year — and the new service will make it easier for those from Beantown to escape to tropical islands.
“There is nowhere on Earth like Hawai'i, and we are bringing our islands closer than ever to Boston with nonstop service,” Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Peter Ingram said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing our warm hospitality with our New England guests whose vacation starts the minute they check in and step onto our plane.”
Service is scheduled to begin April 4, operating five times per week, onboard an A330-200. Passengers can book one of 18 seats in the first class cabin or their spot among the 258 places in economy.
In honor of the new route, Hawaiian is offering round-trip specials of $617 for economy and $1,776 for first class. Tickets must be purchased by Sunday, September 16 and are good for travel from April 4–30.
Because of the long flight time, every extra inch of space will count. Passengers can upgrade to Extra Comfort seats (there are 68) for $145 each way.
