People travel for a variety of reasons, from food and art to wellness and adventure. But a stunning villa in Italy is hoping to attract those with a different passion: literature. Red Savannah, an award-winning luxury travel company, is now offering clients the chance to stay in Villa del Poeta in Tuscany, which is a luxurious literary paradise for bibliophiles as it contains over 5,000 books.
The gorgeous 17th-century farmhouse’s expansive book offerings are housed in a floor-to-ceiling library complete with a rolling ladder and feature a treasure trove of fiction, nonfiction, and collections of the classics in Italian, Spanish, English, and French. There’s even a typescript of Memorias de Mis Putas Tristes, by Garcia Marquez, containing his personal notes.
Just imagine relaxing under the Tuscan cypress tree and enjoying the works of Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Susan Sontag, and more. Or, you could cozy up by the fireplace with a vast selection of illustrated books delving into renowned topics such as art, cities, history, and music.
Of course, the rest of the villa is equally stunning. The rental includes the main house—complete with an open living room, a traditional fireplace, a well-equipped kitchen, and a dining room with a view of the valley—and neighboring cottage totaling five double bedrooms.
Elsewhere you’ll find amenities that include a private swimming pool, full-time maid and cook service, and a terrace with a large sitting area and its own private al-fresco dining area. And the secluded gem is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards, woodlands, and olive groves, while still being a brief walk from the renowned Castelfalfi Golf Course.
“Red Savannah is delighted to include Villa del Poeta in its collection of beautiful homes in Italy, with Tuscany continuing to produce some of the finest properties available to rent anywhere in Europe,” Elena Torresani, Destination Specialist for Italian Villas, at Red Savannah, told Departures. “With one of the most inspiring landscapes in the world as the backdrop and over 5,000 books to curl up to, Villa del Poeta is the ideal location for book lovers.”
The villa is priced starting $10,187 per week.
