When Jewel Changi Airport opened in April, it went from the world’s most awarded airport to a full-fledged destination of its own. Even if you don’t have a flight, you’ll want to pay a visit to this Singapore hub. And they just made it even more incredible. The highly anticipated Canopy Park attractions—a 150,700-square-foot space comprised of seven attractions and gardens—opened today.
Now, while waiting to catch a flight (or not) visitors can wander through the Mirror Maze and Hedge Maze, bounce on Manulife Sky Nets, explore the sculptural “playscape” of the Discovery Slides, and take in incredible views of the HSBC Rain Vortex and Shiseido Forest Valley from the glass panel flooring of the Canopy Bridge suspended 75 feet in the air. That’s in addition to the three interactive gardens—Foggy Bowls, Topiary Walk, and Petal Garden—all of which feature whimsical details.
“When Canopy Park was conceptualized, we envisaged a green natural environment with play and leisure activities for people of all ages,” said Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer, Jewel Changi Airport Devt. “Importantly, we wanted to create a space where activities that are traditionally conducted outdoors, are brought to an indoor environment so that they can be enjoyed under all weather conditions.”
If that wasn’t enough, Jewel also unveiled a separate state-of-the-art digital experience: Changi Experience Studio. The airport-themed attraction boasts a singing harden, a runway race, and a game to collect airport trolleys. Each touch point tells a piece of the Changi Airport story giving visitors an imaginative look behind-the-scenes.
“We want the studio journey to be one where visitors can actively participate in a playful journey full of surprises that allows them to understand the story and spirit of Changi in an experiential manner,” said Jayson Goh, CAG’s Managing Director for Airport Operations Management. “Beyond the entertainment, visitors can learn about the past and present of Singapore’s air hub, the inner workings of the airport, and experience what makes Changi tick.”
Of course, after all that play, you’ll want a bite to eat. That’s why you now have the option to dine at eight restaurants, including the newly opened Burger & Lobster. And even that is an experience as you can dine under the stars thanks to a glass roof above.
