Collective Retreats is known for its luxe glamping locations around the country, from Vail to Governors Island in New York City. Since launching in 2015, the company has been selling out seasons of accommodations in beautiful locations around the country. In 2018, the travel company introduced their handful of glamping tents to Governors Island, which sold out and simultaneously took over Instagram accounts of locals and visitors alike.

Collective Retreats is growing off of their success by adding a new place to stay for those heading to New York City. Starting Labor Day weekend (August 30), Collective Retreats is adding another option to their offerings: Outlook Shelter. The new Shelter is a modular hotel room; more of a luxe tiny home than glamping tent.

The Outlook Shelter has not one, but two, private decks—perfect for watching the sunset over the city across the Hudson River. The room also comes with a private bathroom, luxury spa soaking tub, full climate-control heating and air conditioning, a lounge room, a king-size bed with 1,500-thread-count sheets, among many other amenities. Room service from the on-site Three Peaks Restaurant is also available upon request. All in all, the guest room measures in at 225 square feet with an additional 175 square feet of deck space to lounge on. Considering so many New Yorkers live an entire life without a backyard area, this is a true treat.

Governors Island is a quick ferry ride from the city and to many New Yorkers, it’s a true oasis from the overwhelming noises of the city. Here you’ll find tons of green spaces to explore, a small hill to climb, hammocks, an obstacle course, the occasional art show—there’s plenty to pack into a long weekend (slightly) out of the city.

Nightly rates for the new accommodation start at $725.
