Miranda Kerr is no stranger to living life in multiple time zones. As a jet-setting supermodel (she was the first Australian Victoria Secret model), Kerr has spent her fair share of time traveling the globe. And while, nowadays, the Aussie beauty has retired her angel wings, that doesn’t mean her modeling days are over. The mother-of-three is the face of KORA Organics, the hugely successful skincare line she co-founded back in 2009, that offers a range of certified organic body and skincare products.
In fact, Kerr just launched KORA Organics’ second face serum, the Noni Night AHA Resurfacing Serum, packed with organic Noni, Sicilian White Grapes, Willow Bark, Lemon Peel Ferment and Caviar Lime that helps reduce pores and provide the same healthy radiant glow that Kerr herself is famous for.
We recently caught up with the supermodel about all things beauty and travel (spoiler alert: she never travels without her favorite china teacup).
Departures: What’s the one beauty product you never travel without?
Miranda Kerr: "The one product that I never travel without, ever, is the KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Oil. It’s a super nourishing treatment oil that is great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin, and even combination and oily skin types as it helps balance PH levels and sebum production. It’s extremely hydrating and high in antioxidants so it helps combat environmental aggressors and the drying effects of the cabin, so I apply it at least once or sometimes even twice on long haul flights."
Do you have any quirky routines while you travel?
"I have a special teacup—it’s one from the collection I designed for Royal Albert—that I have my tea in each morning and if I’m traveling I wrap up the teacup and take it with me in my carry on so it feels like I have a little bit of home with me no matter where I am."
What does your beauty routine look like while you’re traveling?
"I like to maintain my regular beauty routine whilst traveling, however, I save space by taking travel-sized versions of my favorite products. I ensure my skin stays healthy and glowing by taking the Cream Cleanser, Rose Mist, and a Hydrating Cream. I also carry the 10ml Noni Glow Face Oil and the Noni Radiant Eye Oil and the 30ml versions of both the Turmeric and Sleeping Masks, this makes it really easy to keep my skin clean, protected, and hydrated. Traveling can take its toll on your skin so it’s important to ensure you keep as hydrated as possible, especially throughout the flight.
My other flight must-haves is KORA Organics Face Balm. This balm is amazing and recently won the Allure Best of Beauty Award in the Naturals category. I apply it all over my face after I apply a combination of Noni Glow Face Oil and moisturizer. It acts as a barrier to really protect and nourish the skin, and doubles up as a lip balm too! I also use this on Flynn, Hart, and Myles, so I carry one in my handbag everywhere I go!
[I also carry] KORA Organics Calming Lavender Mist—I use this to help relax during the flight as it has amazing aromatherapy benefits. It’s super hydrating and contains ingredients to fight free radicals. KORA Organics Daily Hand Cream—hands are often forgotten and can be the first area to show signs of premature aging so I apply this hand cream regularly, especially after washing my hands. Noni Glow Body Balm—I apply it throughout the flight if my skin is feeling uncomfortable, dry or itchy. It provides my skin with a rich source of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and complete nourishment and protection."
What’s the best cure for jetlag?
"I try and get as much rest as I can during the flight, I put on an eye mask to block out the lights, put earphones in and mist my face and pillow with the KORA Organics Calming Mist that contains Lavender, Chamomile, and Bergamot essential oils to soothe and relax my mind. I listen to meditation if I’m finding it hard to get settled. I avoid alcoholic or carbonated drinks and drink a lot of water during the flight.
When I land, I like to get outside for a walk in the fresh air, get some vitamin D from a little sun, put my feet in the grass and do some light stretching and breathing. I also soak in a bath with a pound of baking soda and a pound of sea salt to help draw out any radiation from the flight."
How do you stay in shape while you travel?
"I travel with my yoga mat so I can do my yoga practice anywhere—I also travel with resistance bands. I love to walk, explore the city and soak up the culture. If it’s a beach holiday, I love to swim in the ocean. If I have time, I’ll do some floor and pilates exercises in my hotel room."
Do you eat healthily and work out when you are on holiday?
"I try to, but on holidays I am a little more relaxed than usual. I generally follow an 80/20 guide, where I eat healthy organic produce 80 percent of the time and allow myself to treat 20 percent of the time. I find that following this guide helps me to find balance in my diet and enjoy the occasional treat so I don’t crave anything and then overindulge!"
