If there is one type of travel that boomed during the pandemic, it’s road trips. According to the world’s first and largest peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, RVshare, interest in RV rentals has increased in popularity since May 2020, with nearly 80 percent of the site’s 2020 bookings made by new users. And now luxury recreation vehicle company Bowlus is making that often rugged experience a five-star one with its new high-tech Terra Firma Limited Edition.
The sleek aluminum tear-drop-shaped trailer looks like a vintage RV from the 30s, but it’s outfitted to provide the ultimate in performance, technology, and luxury. Yacht-quality details include two skylights in the main cabin, an outdoor kitchen setup with electrical and propane outlets, a dining table, couch, and a hotel-style bedroom with an en suite bathroom that can convert from two twin beds to a king.

As far as the technology is concerned, enhancements include complex HEPA air and water filtration systems, heated floors, a smart brake controller, touch-screen power management, GPS tracking, 60-Second Hitch capabilities, and a lithium-powered system that can let you live two weeks off the grid. Even pets get pampered in the new model thanks to a remote temperature monitor to keep your four-legged friend comfortable, a personalized canine bed, and in-design bowls to make mealtime on-the-go easy.
“We are persistently working to find new ways to elevate the luxury land travel experience with elements that effortlessly enhance life’s precious moments,” Geneva Long, founder and CEO of Bowlus, told Departures in a statement. “The Terra Firma edition continues the Bowlus tradition of bringing new technologies to the RV industry without adding more technology for technology’s sake.”

While many of these features come standard, Bowlus also personalizes each trailer to suit the owner’s needs through its bespoke customization programs. With this program, owners work with Long to personalize their Bowlus choosing from more than fifty-six million possible interior design combos. Plus, clients’ chosen names are emblemized on the fender skirts as a finishing touch.
Pricing for the Bowlus Terra Firma begins at $265,000, and orders are currently being accepted for 2022.
