With many travel restrictions to international destinations still in place, this summer has quickly become all about the road trip. But for those who hate driving, there’s an alternative. Amtrak has private rooms that help you to social distance while traveling.

The locomotive company has several classes of private rooms ranging from a “roomette” to a bedroom suite, making it an excellent option for everyone from solo travelers to families. A standard room features two seats that convert into beds, complimentary WiFi, charging outlets, and a picture window to watch the American landscape pass by. And the bedroom suite can accommodate up to four people with an in-room bathroom and shower.
When you purchase that class of service, you get a dedicated sleeping car attendant who can assist with luggage, provide turndown service, complimentary meals, lounge access at major stations, and prioritize boarding. Of course, Amtrak enhanced its cleaning protocols at both the station and onboard, so passengers know they are traveling in a freshly-cleaned room. Plus, there are carry-out and room service food options as well as physical distancing markers to ensure passengers are safely separated in shared spaces.

Now all you have to do is choose where you want to go. The train line serves more than 500 destinations in 46 states and three Canadian provinces. You can visit places like Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon, Canyonlands National Park, or Disney World while resting in your private room along the trek. Routes include Los Angeles to Seattle, New Orleans to New York, and Boston to Chicago, to name a few.
