American Express officially announced today that there’s another Centurion Lounge in the works. The newest lounge will be at Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport (DCA), bringing a Centurion Lounge to the U.S. capital. In conjunction with this news, Amex also announced that they will expand their lounges at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The new lounge in D.C. and expanded lounges in San Francisco and Seattle are all slated to open before the end of 2022.
The new Centurion Lounge at DCA will be an 11,500-square-foot luxury enclave in Terminal B. It will open when Reagan National Airport completes their $1 million improvement project. Like the 15 Centurion Lounges that have opened before it, the anticipated D.C. lounge will feature a custom bar and culinary program, work spaces, and other areas to unwind. Previous Centurion Lounges have introduced amenities like a speakeasy (at the JFK Centurion Lounge) and menus designed by top culinary talent (like Global Dining Collection chef Nancy Silverton’s program at the LAX Centurion Lounge). As the plans unfold for the Washington D.C. Centurion Lounge, we’ll have to see what customizations are in store.

The lounge expansions at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and San Francisco International Airport are both following a similar timeline to the new D.C. lounge. The SEA Centurion Lounge is set to triple in size (winding up at 13,800 square feet) with views of the Olympic Mountains and private phone rooms. The San Francisco Centurion Lounge will expand to nearly 16,000 square feet, overtaking the JFK space as the largest Centurion Lounge in the U.S. As the lounge doubles in size it will gain private workspaces and phone rooms, and an additional bar and cafe.

The news of the brand new D.C. Centurion Lounge and reimagined SEA and SFO lounges came shortly after the Denver Centurion Lounge opening. The next lounge to open should be at London Heathrow—and if the amenities are anything like the JFK speakeasy, outbound travelers are in for a treat.
