If you’re Irish and you’ve ever daydreamed about planning a trip to see where your ancestors called home, Aer Lingus has an idea for you. The airline recently announced a new set of trips called Discover Your Roots—the basic idea is that you can travel with a genealogy expert to really get the low-down on your family.

Each trip is customized to your own ancestry, meaning you will get as close as possible to the very land your family once frequented. (Note that the experiences are currently limited to Ireland.) Prices for the Discover Your Roots packages start at $999 per person for one week, including round-trip airfare (economy class), four nights in B&Bs around the country (located depends on your customized route), two nights in a 4-star hotel, a 1-hour consultation with a genealogy expert at The Irish Family History Center, admission to EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, and a 6-night car rental.

You also have the option of embarking on a seven- or eight-night trip, and to upgrade your stay at the 4-star hotel. It’s the perfect opportunity for a family vacation, one that’s complemented with lush green landscapes and warm woolen sweaters. Aer Lingus’ package site has all kinds of suggestions on where to visit, no matter where your ancestors hail from. One of the best parts of this experience—aside from the private genealogy consultation—is that you’ve got your own car for road-tripping and exploring whatever your heart desires.
