Let’s be honest, traveling with kids can be a pain. Yes, it’s exciting to explore new destinations with them, but, trying to navigate busy airports while dealing with long days and tantrums is exhausting. That’s why one couple sought to change one of the most frustrating parts of travel with little ones.
Next month, Yen Brown and her husband Wesley will be launching the Lil Flyer, a ride-on suitcase that acts as a stroller and luggage all in one. It was designed to entertain children (up to 50 pounds) while navigating through the airport.

“As new parents, our inspiration really came from traveling with our son over the past few years,” Brown told Departures. “How can we make a suitcase that can literally take the load off carrying our son from terminal to terminal in a safe yet fun way? We wanted to live easier on traveling parents. So, on one of our many flights throughout the year, we started brainstorming and sketching out preliminary designs.”

The result was a suitcase with 360-degree spinner wheels that light up for attraction, foldable handlebars, foot pedals for grip, a removable padded seat cushion for comfort, a safety belt for security, telescoping luggage handle for natural maneuverability, and 47 liters of storage capacity. You just secure the child to the luggage and safely maneuver them by your side. Parents are then free to carry other travel items needed while knowing where their child is at all times.
“We designed the Lil Flyer to have the capability of a stroller and functionality of a suitcase,” added Brown. “Specifically for kids to securely ride on, with enough storage capacity to hold plenty of gear for their trip ahead.”
Lil Flyer will be launching on Kickstarter in March and available on their website in May with four designs starting at $150.
