How long does it take to make a classic? When it comes to the Hermès Cape Cod watch, the answer is in an instant. What Henri d’Origny, the designer behind the brand’s coveted silk scarves, first devised as a simple play on the Anchor Chain link in 1991 has, in less than a generation, spawned countless iterations, none less iconic than the very first.

Now, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the line, Hermes unveils new pieces to celebrate the creative and daring watchmaking spirit of the company and to showcase the watch’s whimsical yet timeless nature. Proving 25 is anything but tired, these new designs go above and beyond, employ precious gemstone dials, diamond-set cases, a novel cuff wristband, and a bold, new size for the first time.

Offered in a 29 x 29mm, the Cape Cod gemstone watches feature dials made with white mother-of-pearl, black onyx, or shimmering blue lapis lazuli. The watches are finished with a diamond-set case that uses a new “dropped” setting style ($10,800, for lapis and onyx).Other additions to the Cape Cod line include new double-tour wrap-around alligator straps in a host of vibrant, beautiful new hues—electric blue, iris, capucine, lime, ultraviolet, and more—now offered in two sizes: 23 x 23mm and 29 x 29mm (from $3,125). A third special-edition watch in a larger 33 x 33mm size is also on offer, paired with a cuff-style black Barenia calfskin strap ($3,400). A fourth addition to the line includes a new white lacquered dial in 29 x 29mm, with double tour straps in new color ways ($3,225). Find them all in Hermès stores now, just in time for the holidays.
