While every actor’s dream is to win an Academy Award, being nominated is quite the honor as well. And it turns out that an Oscar nomination in one of the major categories gives you a lot more than bragging rights and your peers’ respect.
This week, Los Angeles marketing agency Distinctive Assets announced the contents of the swag bag that this year’s nominees in the best actor and actress, best supporting actor and actress, and best director categories will receive prior to Sunday’s ceremony, and it is quite impressive, to say the least.
A few of the highlights include a five-night stay at the Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger hotel, a new modern property located in the heart of Waikiki, a 12-day all-inclusive cruise from Scenic Eclipse with a price tag of $78,000 (which makes it the most expensive item in the bag), $25,000-worth of cosmetic treatments and procedures (think Botox and chemical peels), and a membership to a dating service that would normally cost $20,000.
Nominated movie makers looking for something sparkly will not be disappointed either. A pair of crystal earrings from Millianna, a 24-karat gold Hollowtips vape pen, a gold-and-silver bracelet, and even a bath bomb made with 24-karat gold are also some of the featured items.
While Distinctive Assets would not confirm officially the total value of the gift bag, it is estimated to be approximately $215,000 which makes it the most expensive one to date. The bags are delivered to the nominees the week of the ceremony and interestingly enough if they choose to keep anything from it, they have to pay income tax on the value of the items.
