Lovingly referred to as Speedy among enthusiasts, the Omega Speedmaster watch is an icon if there ever was one. First unveiled to the world in 1957, the timepiece made its first trip to outer space on the wrists of astronaut Wally Schirra on the 1962 Mercury Sigma 7 Mission. Three years later, it was approved by NASA as Flight Qualified for all Manned Space Missions, earning the Silver Snoopy award after it helped astronauts perfectly time their re-entry to Earth’s atmosphere on the famed Apollo 13 mission in 1970. Sixty years later, the watch is still out of this world. For 2017, the brand celebrates the watch’s diamond anniversary with new models for men and women, including this stunning café-au-lait–colored version boasting some glitter of its own.

Main Features of the Omega Speedmaster 38mm Cappuccino

Much of the allure of the 38mm Speedmaster Cappuccino is its handsome color scheme, a charming combination of a cream dial; trio of cappuccino-colored oval sub dials; coffee-brown tachymeter scale; and hands, markers, and bezel, set with 90 diamonds, in 18-karat Sedna gold—the brand’s proprietary, warm rose gold alloy specially formulated to be fade resistant. The watch is finished with a color-coordinated, hand-stitched taupe strap.

Omega Speedmaster 38mm Cappuccino Movement

The watch is powered by the caliber 3330, Omega’s in-house co-axial chronograph movement that features a silicon balance spring. The automatic movement offers hours and minutes, seconds from a subdial at 9:00, chronograph functions off of 12-hour and 30-minute counters (chronograph seconds are read from the center seconds hand), date, and tachymeter scale. It has a power reserve of 52 hours and is a COSC-certified chronometer that is water resistant to 100 meters.

Price and Availability of Omega Speedmaster 38mm

The Omega Speedmaster 38mm Cappuccino watch carries a four-year international warranty. It will be in stores around the world beginning this summer for $9,300.
