Another fashion month has come and gone, leaving several quaintrelles in dire anticipation to invest in their must-have pieces for their fall wardrobe. From New York to London, and Milan to Paris, each week served up delectable trends to satisfy even the most discerning palate.
However this season was different from others. It was bittersweet. The passing of Karl Lagerfeld left a wavering, “end-of-an-era” cloud on the traveling fashion troupe. But, if there was one thing we knew about Karl, it was that he never wanted to be mourned and always to be celebrated. Therefore, his final collections for Fendi and Chanel were not only exceptional highlights of the season, but were embraced with love, compassion, and few tears.
That said, Chanel nailed one of the most popular yet timeless textile prints of the moment—houndstooth—with an outstanding opening look worn by model Cara Delevingne. Loewe and Y/Project followed a similar suit with their impeccable versions of multi-color, checkered, and woven plaid coats.
The 80’s oversized suiting and bold shoulder trends are here to stay and personally, I am all for it. Saint Laurent’s exemplified this with a cream, wool power coat, which is my number one pick of the season. Masterfully sculpted shoulders also came into play for brands such as Givenchy, Mugler, and Maxmara.

Additional prevalent, voluminous outerwear also came in the form of puffer coats often quilted, floor length, or printed. Balenciaga and Dries van Noten starred with their interpretations.
Isabel Marant, also boasting a collection chalked full of statement shoulders, hit another major trend at the moment—monochromatic beige. While brands such as Proenza Schouler and Burberry chose to mix in few minimal fabric contrasts with the khaki hue, Victoria Beckham went strong with the ever-so-popular mix of rouge.
Hermes introduced their variation of the prevailing belt bag this season with a simplistic, home-run black and white “H” logo feature—these will indeed sell out. Feathers were scattered in almost every show with Valentino, Burberry, and The Attico displaying next season’s superior selections. From Mary Katrantzou’s brazen, ombre-tinted feathers came vibrant, outstanding hues of cobalt blue, tangerine and chartreuse reflected into collections such as Marni, Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton.

But if there was one trend that is sweeping the season, in addition to gold metallics, it would be crystals. Dispersed through almost every 2019 Fashion Week collection, these sparkly diamantes shined extraordinarily in Paco Rabanne, Area, and Tom Ford.
Fall/Winter 2019 was quite a season as you can see and here are the most stylish looks to prove it.
