How the Gucci Loafer Became a Modern Icon

As its 70 years of illustrious history prove, the style makes a lasting impression.

Fashion week may officially be all about the looks on the runway, but unofficially, there’s just as much (fashion) action off the runway, too.

Street style is an essential part of any fashion event because it allows editors, influencers, buyers and models to show off their styling skills and serve up some major fashion inspo. Very often, trends will start on the street and then move on the runway instead of the other way around so keeping an eye out on what fashion pros are wearing is always a good idea.

And since this is London Fashion Week—an event where boundaries are pushed every season, it’s no surprise that the street style scene reflects that. Showgoers are not afraid to wear voluminous silhouettes, bold hues, layer prints (which is notoriously hard to pull off), and even don all-denim outfits (which also notoriously gets a bad rap).

Another major trend we saw on the runway which is also very fast catching up with the street style crowd is loose-fitting menswear-inspired pieces—whether it’s simply a blazer thrown over skinny pants or a skirt, or suit, this 80s trend looks incredibly cool and reminds us of the good old days of power dressing.

Now check out the best fashion looks from the streets of London.

Oversized sweaters paired with shorts or slinky skirts look so chic.

Sometimes you don’t need a lot of bells and whistles for a statement look.

Vibrant prints will always get you noticed.

Volume Up: Influencer Linda Tol makes a statement in oversized trousers and yellow heels while Jenny Walton (right) is all smiles in this gorgeous blue number.

Dress It Up: A pretty dress (or two) can go a long way

Prints on Prints: Lauren Santo Domingo (left) gives a masterclass in styling animal prints. Blogger Hedvig Sagfjord Opshaug opted for pretty polka dots.

Bold Color: A little color never hurt anybody.

Sweater Weather: A show goer sports a multicolored sweater styled with black shorts.

Black and White: A chic showgoer makes a statement in a short white belted blazer. Carolina Issa (right) wears a black and white striped dress.

Metallics: Add an oomph factor to your daytime wardrobe just like these two stylish showgoers did.

Glam Slam: Maison Martin Margiela’s “Glam Slam” handbag is all the rage at LFW.

All Denim Everything: Here’s how to live out your denim dreams without looking extra.

Borrowed from the Boys: Menswear-inspired looks were trending both on and off the runway.

Suits: Power suits are back and they are sexier and bolder than ever.
