British style is notorious for a reason and many designers at London Fashion Week use it as a source of inspiration (just look at all the trench coats in Haizhen Wang’s new spring 2020 collection). And that includes not just womenswear but menswear as well.

LFW has always had a slightly different vibe than Mian, Paris, and New York, where most of the world’s luxury heritage brands present their collections. The English capital prides itself on being a creative hub for young designers who are not afraid to take risks and push the boundaries of fashion. And the result is fascinating.

This season, for menswear, a lot of them started off with wardrobe staples such as suits, trench coats, and tailored jackets but they were given a contemporary makeover—oversized patch pockets, neon colors, cropped silhouettes, and bold patterns. The end product still has that traditional British elegance to it but it also oozes a modern, edgy vibe.

Ricardo Tisci’s “Evolution” collection featured stylish suits worn with trench coats and eye-catching sportswear pieces.

Zinko’s sustainable collection was all about reusing leftover fabrics and vintage pieces.

Naomi Campbell’s charity show Fashion for Relief also included a few memorable menswear looks.

Printed pants and jackets were all the rage at Rejina Pyo for spring 2020.

Gentlemen, Breton’s boldly printed suits and shirts will definitely get you noticed next spring.

Ashish’s menswear collection was brimming with color.

Howell styled her male models in cropped pants worn with socks and sandals.

Animal and tie-dye prints in mixed neon hues were all the rage at Mark Fast’s spring 2020 show.

Haizhen Wang, who is behind this Hazzys collection, referenced classic British style and gave it a modern update.

Cycling shorts styled with button-down shirts and see-through jackets were part of the must-see looks from Jamie Wei Huang’s spring 2020 collection.
