Your Instagram feed may be looking a little more philanthropic this week. With posts from supers like Doutzen Kroes, Gisele Bundchen, and Karlie Kloss, Loewe has the fashion set’s attention with the launch of an elephant-shaped, crossbody bag. Created in collaboration with Knot On My Planet, the limited edition bag supports the Elephant Crisis Fund to end poaching, trafficking, and demand for ivory. And the tan, calfskin piece was hand-beaded by those who know elephants best—Samburu women from northern Kenya who live among them everyday.
The partnership is thanks to the brand’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, who became concerned with the ivory crisis and its negative environmental impact after seeing Kroes in the Knot On My Planet campaign. As a result, Loewe joins other luxury houses like Ralph Lauren and Tiffany in the effort to protect elephants and ecosystems.
Available on loewe.com and Manhattan’s Bergdorf Goodman for $1,650, every dollar raised will deploy directly to elephant conservation projects within the most crucial areas of Africa and Asia, as part of the fund’s 100% donation model. The fund is a joint initiative between Save The Elephants and the Wildlife Conservation Network, in partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and backed by Knot On My Planet.
