The Hoodie of the Future

British clothier Vollebak makes garments for today’s superhero.

For several years after I first visited the L. Raphaël beauty salon on Geneva’s tony Rue du Rhône, people would routinely ask me who did my face-lift. If the full day of next-level oxygen treatments I experienced hadn’t done the trick, the compliments certainly brought a glimmer to my face.

The bad news is that the plaudits have all but died down; on the bright side, fans of L. Raphaël, including high-profile beauties, like Queen Noor of Jordan and Eva Longoria, no longer have to travel to Switzerland to get their glow on. Ronit Raphaël Leitersdorf, L. Raphaël’s taut-skinned Israeli-born founder, has expanded to include new outposts in Moscow, Tel Aviv and New York, where she has opened a sprawling 5,000-square-foot maison kitty-corner from the Plaza. (She has also opened smaller spas in Verbier, Switzerland, and Cannes, France, and at the Four Seasons in Midtown Manhattan.)

Though the Four Seasons chapter offers more traditional, noninvasive regimens, such as the Oxy Star Anti-Pigmentation Treatment (what Leitersdorf calls “soft antiaging”), the maison is the place to go for the company’s all-star tightening, sculpturing and lifting facial and body treatments, many of which use proprietary radio-frequency machines that produce oxygen to kill bacteria and help the skin absorb L. Raphaël’s signature products, made from extracts of caviar, truffles and diamonds.
