Immersive Van Gogh — a global art exhibition which transforms the most iconic Van Gogh work into a three-dimensional, interactive experience — is officially coming to NYC. It will open on June 10 on Pier 36 in a phenomenal 70,000-square-foot, indoor-outdoor venue. The Lower East Side exhibition on Pier 36 will offer views of the East River and the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges, which will only further elevate the Immersive Van Gogh experience. David Korins, known for designing Hamilton among other Broadway hits, is set to creative direct Immersive Van Gogh in NYC. He plans to include a three-dimensional Starry Night composed of 7,500 paint-dipped brushes, a larger-than-life Van Gogh portrait, and New York-specific accents.

"I am thrilled to collaborate with the creative minds behind the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit to create a truly unique experience for the city of New York to enjoy and be inspired by," said Korins in a statement shared with Departures. "I have always been deeply moved when looking at Van Gogh’s paintings, which are universally beloved for their color and unique use of texture, or his transcendent ink drawings, and I'm humbled by the opportunity to develop an experience that will enhance the viewers' time spent with his powerful art.”

Korins design of the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit will take full advantage of the waterfront venue, and put patrons right in the middle of the emotive works of Van Gogh with animated projections, out-of-the-box Van Gogh-inspired installations, and the artistry of New York on full display.
