Cardi B might have the most talked-about outfit of the night. The songstress rocked a vintage Mugler dress and headpiece from the designer’s fall 1995 collection to the 61st annual GRAMMY Awards, and it took no less than three people to help her on to the red carpet.

The over-the-top ensemble included a fitted, mermaid-style black skirt—so tight that she had to shuffle her feet—that fanned out at the hips showing off and had pearl detailing. The sparkly beige bodysuit was topped off with pink over-elbow gloves and a multi-layered pearl necklace. The beehive headpiece also featured what looked like pearl detailing.

While social media is already buzzing about whether the outfit was a hit or miss, it’s clear to see why the "Bodak Yellow" rap star would choose a piece from the French designer. Thierry Mugler was known for being extravagant and using unique architectural structures, futuristic designs, and unusual materials like latex and vinyl. His shows were also very elaborate, sometimes lasting nearly a full hour.

The designers most talked about show was the Fall 1995 Couture presentation—where Cardi’s dress was from—that marked his 20th anniversary. It featured go-go dancers, a performance by James Brown, and took place at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris. Supermodels like Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Jerry Hall, and a young Kate Moss all walked the runway.

But, Cardi isn’t the first modern pop star to rock duds from the Mugler. Beyoncé wore an outfit from the same collection in her "Sweet Dreams" video.

While many are wondering how the "I Like It" singer will even sit during the award show, it’s likely there’s more than one outfit in store for the musical sensation. She’s taking the stage to perform tonight and might make more the one appearance to claim a Grammy. She has a total of five nominations for her album Invasion of Privacy.
