Whether you're looking for a sophisticated contemporary look or an old-world museum vibe, having a cache of one-of-a-kind art makes all the difference when designing a room.

A fresh, original piece of art can tie a room together and act as a conversation piece during your next cocktail party, but getting an original lux look can cost you. Original pieces in galleries regularly sell for thousands, if not millions, making it a daunting task for those looking to start their own collection. However, there are a handful of companies that sell unique works on a more attainable budget.

We've put together a list of these companies that allow you to decorate your space like a pro, without spending thousands.

Absolutearts.com

Launched in 1999 by World Wide Arts Resources Corporation, Absolutearts.com offers a range of works from $100 up to over $10,000. The site sells pieces in a variety of mediums, including sculptures, photographs, prints, and paintings.

Abolut Art

Not to be confused with the previous company, this digital gallery is run by your favorite liquor company, Absolut Vodka. The company works with artists from cities the world over to sell contemporary photography and paintings. Pieces run from $105 to just over $3,000.

Artfinder

Artfinder sells only original works, so no reproductions here. From art aficionados to creative novices, Artfinder has options for everyone. Pieces range from $13 up to over $1,000,000.

Deviant Art

With pieces leaning towards surreal, Deviant Art offers thousands of pieces for a variety of prices. For photography prints and original illustrations, prices start in the $30 range. Buyers can filter based on medium and size, making for an easy purchasing experience.

Saatchi Art

Saatchi Art offers buyers a curated selection of works, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, and photography. The site allows users to filter by medium and price, allowing for a seamless art-buying experience. Pieces start around $100 and go up to over $100,000.

Tappan Collective

Specializing in emerging contemporary artists, Tappan Collective not only sells works of art but introduces consumers to these artists through exhibitions and studio visits. Launched in 2012, the company's mission is to introduce consumers to artists, not based on reputation but on the quality of their work. Founder Chelsea Neman told Forbes, "Buy with your eyes and not your ears. When people first start collecting it's so easy to get influenced by everyone else's opinions, but I think the more important thing to consider is what you are drawn to and what you love. You should feel a connection to the piece you are acquiring."

The site offers works that range from $10 for postcard sets that depict popular works, to $12,000 for large-scale sculptures.
