Simón Vélez

A proponent of sustainable building, Colombian architect Simón Vélez is famous for his use of bamboo, developing a joinery system 30 years ago by injecting cement to connect bamboo pieces with impressive structural integrity. Since then, Vélez has designed the Nomadic Museum, in Mexico City, with bamboo as the main structural component, as well as an ecotourist site in China.
