Firm Description
Van Wyck & Van Wyck is a leading environmental design, event production and experiential marketing company, working with clients throughout the U.S. and internationally. Committed to an unsurpassed level of service, the firm focuses on age-old notions of hospitality, graciousness and generosity. The team has worked with Daphne Guinness, Andre Balaz, Agnes Gund, Sean Combs, Beyoncé, George Lucas, Alicia Keys and Hugh Jackman, along with Vogue magazine, Chanel, Estee Lauder, the Department of State, and for the last three U.S. presidents.

Approach to Designing Event Environments
The work starts with a series of questions for the client: What story do you want to tell? How will you feel when you arrive? What sounds will you hear? How do you want guests to feel when they leave? Founder Bronson van Wyck says there's an instinctive quality to entertaining and guests should be cocooned in warmth, graciousness and comfort. Van Wyck & Van Wyck cultivates environments where people let down their guard and interact with new people. "Ultimately, my job is to create memories. I want guests to leave with a memory, a story, an impression, a new friend or a new understanding of an old friend," he says.

Distinguishing Characteristics
Van Wyck spends a lot of time listening to the client’s needs, wants and desires and then crafts the moments and experiences that fulfill those needs. He sets aside his own ego and preconceptions of how something ought to be done. When he's working on the client’s time, it’s 110% about them.

Work Influences
The designer's list includes history, mythology, art, fashion, theater, Madonna, interior designers Axel Vervoordt and Jacques Garcia, the architect Oscar Neimeier, hotel lobbies and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, England. But he notes it always comes back to the host or hostess.
