The first phase of America's first and only superyacht-only marina—set to be fully completed in 2018—opens this winter.

North America is getting its first all-superyacht marina in December. In Miami, the Deep Harbour at Island Gardens is the first component to open at the luxury development on Biscayne Bay’s Watson Island, between downtown and Miami Beach.

The new marina, which shares deep waters with the cruise ships that dock at the Port of Miami, will have 5,000 feet of linear capacity to accommodate an average of fifty 550-foot yachts. Amenities include in-slip fueling, repairs, and customs and immigration clearance, along with a lounge and restaurant. “Think of it like the private-jet terminal,” says Mehmet Bayraktar, the developer. “But we are not deserted in the middle of nowhere.”

The complex has been in the works for more than a decade, and when fully completed (target date, 2018) it will have two to-be-announced luxury hotels with residences, fine dining, and designer shopping.
