Zune Takes on the iPod

A slightly bulky alternative to the 30G iPod, the Zune has pretty much the same functions as the ubiquitous Apple MP3 player (except it offers wireless sharing). But Zune also offers a revolutionary music subscription service backed up by a colossus: Microsoft. This gives you access to a library of millions of songs for a monthly fee of $15, the cost of roughly 15 songs from iTunes. With my Zune I listen to every kind of music imaginable—songs I would never pay 99 cents for at iTunes. And if your computer bombs, no problem: You can download everything again for free. Apple excels at selling style, but if fairly priced content is king, it’s time to crown the Zune. zune.net
