Old World Weavers

Rare and hard-to-find materials

Lilacs & Lyres —a tour de force of broché weaving—is a fabric recently acquired by Old World Weavers, which specializes in rare and hard-to-find materials. This particular fabric is a replica of one commissioned by Catherine the Great for Peterhoff, the great palace on the Gulf of Finland. The raised portions of the fabric are done by hand, and the weaving process itself is painstaking: Only four inches of material are turned out in a day. Hence the price, $3,000 a yard. It would look fabulous as wall covering or on decorative pillows. To the trade only. 979 Third Avenue, 10th floor; 212-355-7186. www.old-world-weavers.com
