Gropius's two Palermo Hollywood stores specialize in midcentury furniture, lighting, and decorative arts—most of it made in Argentina. Entering the shops is like traveling back to an era of Formica and chrome and highballs-at-five: Transparent acrylic tables sit alongside thirties walnut-veneer sideboards; Italian floor lamps illuminate fifties chrome-and-leather club chairs. Major signed pieces appear only occasionally, but Gropius often stocks beautifully restored pieces crafted by Alberto Churba and Víctor Carozza. $ $150–$1,200.
