The Intrepid Shopper

Indo-chic in NYC

Saigoniste, a new shop in New York's Nolita, is devoted to all things chicly Vietnamese. "We case the country twice a year," says co-owner Cynthia Ashworth, who, with partner Hugh Duphie, looks for designs with "an East-meets-West style that reflects the French influence there." Our favorites include bamboo-and-lacquer bowls and trays ($45-$110), wood-and-resin chopsticks ($60 for six), and embroidered silk pillows ($125). At 239 Mulberry Street; 212-925-4610;
