Los Angeles burger haven In-N-Out is rumored to be planning a New York debut, but burgers have already taken the city by storm. The foie gras- and short rib-filled specimen at Daniel Boulud’s DB Bistro Moderne started the craze six years ago, but Manhattan is now exploding with trendy burger joints, including Laurent Tourondel’s BLT Burger, the David Rockwell-designed brgr, and Danny Meyer’s adorable Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. Now comes Jonathan Morr—long one of our favorite restaurateurs, especially for his spectacular sushi mecca, Bond St.—with Stand. This inconspicuous East Village spot is chicly casual, with a retro counter, faux blackboard menu, and communal tables where diners are treated to perfectly seasoned burgers and Il Laboratorio del Gelato milk shakes. At 24 E. 12th St.; 212-488-5900.
