Boston
Historically rich Beacon Hill is the standout neighborhood for strollers in Boston. Amy Finsilver, general manager of boutique hotel XV Beacon, outlines an ideal walking route here. “Step outside our front door and you will be on the path of the infamous Freedom Trail, covering 16 historic sites,” she says. To follow it, stroll two blocks to admire the State House, with its famous golden dome, before continuing on to historic Boston Common and Frog Pond. Take a right on Joy Street and pass the African-American meeting house and the rows of beautiful brownstones that hid slaves for the Underground Railroad, then meander along Acorn Street, the most photographed street in America. Lastly, stroll two more blocks to quaint Charles Street, where you can browse the boutiques before cutting back through the Public Garden—the first in the country when it opened in 1837.
