Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon
Tucked amid the wineries of Napa Valley, this rural race is for a runner who loves scenery, quiet and an intimate feel. “Runners that come to the Napa Valley Marathon are those who prefer an event that caters to the individual,” says race director Rich Benyo. The number of participants (registration is limited to 2,300), the well-maintained point-to-point course (downhill and largely flat) and an overall attention to detail makes for a fun, relaxed experience. And we can think of few better post-marathon recovery strategies than plenty of wine and delicious food at area restaurants and wineries. March 3, 2013; 707-255-2609; napavalleymarathon.org.
