Suite 57: Viceroy
While it may be the largest room offered at the Viceroy, at 1,200 square feet—and thus constituting the entire north side of the 28th floor—the real pleasures of the penthouse Suite 57, named for the street on which it’s located, are in the details. Consider the French vintage wallpaper decorating the inside of the dressing area’s walk-in closet, the custom brass light fixtures from Roman and Williams, the African iroko wood in the kitchenette, a hidden mirrored bar, the Paonazzo marble in the bathrooms and the nautical porthole in one of the suite’s two showers. The northern-facing wall-to-wall windows offer plentiful natural light and great views of surrounding rooftops, as well as a hip, industrial-chic feel. All together, the dark leathers, exotic woods and sleek, minimalist accents create an ambiance somewhere between the sophistication of Mad Men and the luxuriousness of a yacht. Either way, you know you’re in good hands with this crew. $5,500 a night; 120 W. 57th St.; 212-830-8000; viceroyhotelsandresorts.com.
