Firm Description
Messana O'Rorke is a dynamic and evolving practice with a commitment to the inherent value of design to enhance the quality of life at all levels of exposure. The nexus of architecture, contemporary culture and current technology is the constant focus of its endeavors, from research driven investigations to realized projects. Their most significant projects to date include the Axis Theater, PentTank house, Charles Street townhouse, 9th Street loft, all in New York City, the Ten Broeck Cottage in Hudson, NY, and residences in Phoenix and Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Approach to Residential Design
Each project initiates the studio's design interests and ideas, as they ascertain the client’s character and aspirations, and study the site and its conditions. The architects distill and synthesize all the variables through a rigorous process of investigation, resulting in a unique, distinctive and aspirational design for each commission.

Distinguishing Characteristics
The firm constantly reviews, simplifies and refines the design, with tremendous attention to detail. Each project becomes part of a continuing investigation into form, space and light. "Our work is elegant, timeless and unapologetically simple in its complexity," says Messana.

Work Influences
The evolving culture, our clients and site conditions all influence our design process. Our clients and site conditions become the catalyst for thought, and set the boundaries for what is possible for each project.
