For over 150 years, cars have been designed around the driver, influencing everything from body shape to component placement. With the advent of safer, computer-aided driving systems, designers are starting to challenge those conventions. “How can we make the inside of the car a great place to read a book or watch a movie?” asks Tisha Johnson, Volvo’s senior director of design.
