Montblanc's new writing collection
Montblanc has just recently launched a new line of writing instruments ("pen" does not do justice)—the company's first important writing collection since 1924. The Bohème line combines the stellar quality of traditional Montblanc products with a touch of design whimsy. Each little power accessory—available as a fountain pen ($350), ballpoint pen ($195), or mechanical pencil ($195)—features a tiny jewel set in its clip. The Rouge model, in black resin, has a synthetic ruby; the Noir model's platinum design is set off with a synthetic onyx. These two styles, equally lithe and elegant, retain Montblanc's signature three-ring design motif and flat cap, which displays the company's logo: a six-pointed shape symbolizing the snow-capped summit of the Alps' Mont Blanc.
The classy fountain pen has a retractable nib that comes in eight sizes in 14-karat gold (platinum-plated in the Noir model) and is hand-etched with the Montblanc symbol and the number 4,810—the height, in meters, of Mont Blanc.
In the fall of 2001, these models will be joined by a sterling-silver-and-"sapphire" sister and an all-gold brother. You might just be induced into a personal fine-writing frenzy. For store information, call 800-995-4810.
