New designs in fine linens
Two companies known for their fine linens have recently introduced new designs for the bed that combine luxury with a simple, tailored look. Sferra Bros. has just come out with Millesimo, an Egyptian-cotton sateen sheet woven in Italy with a record-breaking 1,020 thread count. Available in white or ivory, Millesimo comes with lace or traditional hemstitch detailing. A king-sized set (flat and fitted sheets, two pillowcases) costs $1,300. For information: 800-336-1891.
Peacock Alley has always featured "neutral" shades whose effect is anything but neutral. The Norwich duvet-cover-and-sham ensemble with hemstitch detailing is a paisley pattern in a rich champagne color, with a satiny feel thanks to its 540 thread count (duvet covers, $450-$610; shams, $100-$145). The Kashmir design comes in red as well as taupe (duvet covers, $325-$370; shams, $100-$145). Both lines are 100 percent Egyptian cotton. There are also new harlequin, striped, and plaid designs for cribs in pink, blue, and sage green (fitted sheet, coverlet, and bumper pad, $350). For information: 800-810-0708.
