Best Children’s Boutiques in Paris

My family happens to live at the nexus of children’s boutiques, a paradise of typically Parisian kidswear—velvet collars, fancy shirts, cashmere ensembles—in the Seventh Arrondissement. I simply can’t stop shopping for my eight-month-old son. The newest arrival is C de C, founded by Cordélia de Castellane, who worked for Emmanuel Ungaro; here her fresh, pretty, wallet-friendly clothes combine old-fashioned elegance with modern simplicity. Also nearby are Molli for beautiful hand-knitted baby outfits, L’Oiseau de Paradis for traditional toys, and Marie Laure for hand-embroidered christening gowns. None of the area’s five Bonpoint outposts—one for girls, another for boys, one just for shoes, and so on—is inexpensive, but the clothes are always the right mix of muted colors, classic materials, and a splash of French gaiety. Around the corner, Jacadi provides just as much Paris chic (clothes, accessories, and linens) but at more accessible prices, and Petit Bateau remains a classic for pajamas and underclothes. Baudou has a small selection of excellent furniture, and, finally, there are the marvelous frilly clothes at Tartine et Chocolat—perfect for anyone willing to brave the shop’s terribly snooty salesladies.
