Delhi: Dot-com Cuisine

Zackary Canepari

In 2006 Hemanshu Kumar started the Web site Eating Out in Delhi (eoid.wordpress.com) to let locals compare notes on the city’s hole-in-the-wall culinary havens and to organize trips to user-recommended places like Moti Mahal. Newer hot spots have lured A-listers away (Jawaharlal Nehru was once a fan), but this courtyard restaurant, established in 1947, still serves some of the best Punjabi fare around. Diners should order the butter chicken (a curry of tomatoes, onions, spices, butter, and cream), mutton burra kebab (seasoned roast lamb), kesari fish tikka (saffron-flavored roast fish), and the garlic chicken kebab (marinated in garlic-yogurt paste).
