Russian book design

The Russian Avant-Garde Book: 1910-1934, opening March 28 at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, will display nearly 300 of the 1,000 books given last year to MoMA by The Judith Rothschild Foundation, the most splendid collection of its kind ever assembled. There are dashingly abstract, colorful works by Aleksandr Rodchenko (Orator), Kazimir Malevich, and El Lissitzky, but also designs such as Mariia Siniakova's They Bounce, They Fly, a cover for a children's book that shows heroic images of balls, boomerangs, a whirligig, and an empty spool of thread.
